Launches New Products to Let Companies Do More Than Just Monitor Social Media Conversations
Toronto, ON - June 4, 2009 - Sysomos Inc. today unveiled two new services that leapfrog current offerings in the social media analytics universe: Sysomos MAP and Sysomos Heartbeat, intuitively and elegantly offer real-time access to an extensive database of social and traditional media conversations, as well as detailed information about sentiment, geo-demographics and key influencers.
"We provide businesses, brands and agencies with the kind of real-time insight they haven't been able to get before," said Nick Koudas, Sysomos' co-founder and CEO. "We help them see not only what's happening but where it is happening, what it means, and who's driving the most important or relevant conversations. We can give users a level of granularity and context that is currently unequalled in the industry."
Sysomos' social media analytics portfolio includes Media Analysis Platform (MAP), which gives customers the ability to analyze and understand social and traditional media conversations, including blogs, news articles, social networks, forums, video sites, wikis and micro-blogs. MAP provides real-time results, geo-demographic and key influencer information, collaboration tools, multi-language support and value-added information to generate customizable detailed reports.
Sysomos is also introducing Heartbeat, a cost-effective, real-time monitoring and measurement service. Heartbeat offers constantly updated snapshots of social media conversations delivered using user-friendly and intuitive graphics.
Sysomos was started in 2005 as an advanced research project at the University of Toronto focused on contextual text analysis and data mining technology. When Koudas and co-founder Nilesh Bansal started beta testing the technology, PR and advertising agencies asked for features that weren't available on the social media analytics market.
Koudas and Bansal went ahead and developed the new features, which have been enthusiastically received by early adopters.
"We realized there was demand for better social media analytics tools with more features," Koudas said. "In many respects, we depended on what potential customers wanted to guide our development."
Sysomos' key features include:
- Instant access to a comprehensive and spam-free archive, featuring billions of conversations (and counting) dating back to 2006
- Continually updated content from blogs, social networks, micro-blogging services, wikis, message boards, video sharing sites and news sources
- Geography and demographic (age, gender, profession) information
- Automated sentiment to assess whether conversations are positive, negative or neutral
- Text analytics to identify key themes, emerging topics and trends
- Measurable metrics about popularity, geographic/ demographics and authority
- The ability to compare reach, share of voice and brand impact against competitors
"Of all the social media monitoring tools we took for a test drive, Sysomos MAP was the most immediately productive," said Casian Moscovici, vice president, research, with NATIONAL Public Relations. "We were able to get speedy and relevant results from its uniquely comprehensive and constantly updated archive."
